Okay so this is my random pictures of my cute children. They’re all pretty random but fun memories from summer vacation 2007. I loved when I was a kid being able to just look back and remember the fun times we had just being at home, playing together, laughing together and enjoying family time. The one picture of the poster is because Sam has been able to attend two BC Lions games with his daddy. Both times were a highlight for him and the second time he decided to make a poster to bring to the game. I can’t imagine that he actually got on t.v. but it was cool that he wanted to use his creative streak to make it all by himself!!!

These two pictures were taken at the hotel room in Nanaimo after Ben and Trish’s wedding. Who doesn’t want to do this. I figured I’d let the kids unwind a little and they had been so good all weekend.

I think I’m almost done catching you all up with our lives aside from some random cute pictures that I’ll post next. Anyway, we have always enjoyed at least a short visit to Agrifair and this year my mom asked us to tag along with her. We got to see a variety of things including the Avatar circus, definitely amatuers but the kids enjoyed it, the loggin show, the racing pigs, the donkeys, cows, tractors and of course the rodeo. We had a fun day with mom and the kids and definitely know to make that a priority during the summer.

They had a pretty good kids area too with a McDonald’s play area and a some jumping houses. The kids spent a good hour just checking things out there. Plus it was great for the daddies too since they had a Wii demonstration there so of course my husband is now convinced that’s the greatest invention every. Needless to say I’m not nearly as convinced.

Next big function was Jake’s birthday. He’s three!!! Can you believe how fast they grow up. It’s too crazy that my little boy who makes me laugh and scream all in the same breath is three years old. Anyway, we had two family birthday parties for him. One weekend we had my family over for dinner and the next we had James’ family over. Both parties were a wonderful time spent with family and we cherished the time spent together. I made Jake cone cakes instead of a traditional birthday cake. If anyone is ever looking for a fast, fun cake idea give them a try because they are super simple and actually don’t taste too bad.

So several of the kids friends have trampolines and I had one when I was younger. We had such a blast on ours and because the kids had spent time on them at our friends’ Heather and Stef’s house, Sam’s friends Joden Bartel, Liam Enns and Olivia Hildebrandt all have them they knew what to expect. We figured as a house warming present for our kids we would get them one. Needless to say it has already provided endless hours of entertainment and they are still young enough that it could last for years. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

Alright so as the dust settled from the wedding James and I geared up to move from our townhouse to a house up the street. James took the week off between the wedding and our move so he helped me pack up and then organized the whole move. It was actually not super stressful except for the closing day which required some paperwork and a few last minute hitches that kept up guessing, or more appropriately trusting that God was in control.

This is how our morning started out. Tim, Drew, Dad D., and James moved pretty much everything from our old place into the moving van and then started unloading around 3pm at our new place.

Okay so here is the finished product. Boxes unloaded, things put away and mostly everything in its place. These pictures were taken about two weeks after we moved in but we had so many people helping us that it really only a day or two to get settled. Thanks to my loyal friends Christa R., Heather T., and Amber H (my soon to be second sister-in-law) I didn’t have to do anything in the kitchen really.

I’m not sure exactly where to begin because it’s been such a long time since I’ve posted. I guess I’ll just have to start with Ben and Trish’s wedding and go from there. Well the wedding was great. It was three days of fun, craziness, more craziness and last but not least craziness. We left early Friday morning and caught the ferry and then went straight to the church to set up. All day was spent decorating and preparing. In the evening I settled my family into a “motel” down the street from our hotel and then went to the rehearsal and then rehearsal dinner. Yes my wonderful husband spent the night alone with all three kids in a small, shabby motel room and still managed to show up handsome and somewhat rested for the festivities the following day.

Here are a few pictures of Friday…

Hi everyone! To say that it’s been too long would be an understandment. I haven’t posted for a couple of weeks. Not that it really matters considering I don’t think I have an abundance of readers but just in case I wanted to update you all on the goings on in the Davenport household. The two pictures I’m posting are first of Lanae and I (I love that I have this beautiful little girl to hold and cherish as much as I love my boys)! The second on is of Lanae standing for the first time. She pulled herself up on the back of Sam’s chair and he was so incredibly proud of her. He told everyone that day that his little sister was starting to stand. I love that my boys adore their little sister so much. I know it might not last but for now it’s beautiful.

The next two weekends are sooooo busy for us. This weekend is my oldest brother’s wedding. Ben and Trish are getting married on July 14th. I’m sure I’ll be posting a great deal of pictures when we get back from that. Then on July 20th James and I are moving our family into our first HOUSE! We’ve enjoyed the townhouse but are definitely excited to move into a bigger space and a yard. The kids are so excited and thankfully we have an abundance of people to help us move. Again I’m sure I’ll have a bunch of pictures to share. Anyway, off to bed as I have to get up early to catch a ferry to Nanaimo!

Okay so instead of doing your traditional Father’s day for James and my dad/birthday party for my dad my two soon-to-be sister-in-laws suggested doing a luau!!! What fun was had by all. We prepared shish kebobs, salad, baked potatoes (a special thanks to Neufeld farms for that because they were delicious) and fruit flans for dessert. We even made pina coladas which took a few tries but ended up tasting great. We even decorated for the event and had an outdoor fire. It was such a blast and I really hope we do these kinds of parties again. My brother Tim had the excellent idea to prepare a “treat” for the two dads, which did not go over too well. I can’t say I blame them as it consisted of olives, pickles, tuna, strawberries and whole bunch of whipcream. Needless to say most of the whipcream ended in a variety of places including arms, faces, bellies, noses, clothes, etc. (you get the picture).

Anyway, after feeling slightly discouraged lately about the fact that my family seems to be growing apart. I was encouraged and inspired to make every moment count and enjoy the times we are able to make lasting memories.

The last few days in the Abbotsford have been pipin’ hot and yesterday we decided to have a day on the beach. My mom got a lovely new Saab convertible which was perfect for the drive out to Harrison. Sam and James headed to a birthday party after church and mom, Ben, Trish (Ben’s fiance) and I took Jake and Lanae out. The beach was actually quite calm and not nearly as hectic as I anticipated but it was absolutely perfect. James and Sam even decided to come join us after the party since we just didn’t want to leave.

We played in the water (for maybe 5 seconds since it was so freezing your actually got numb almost immediately), we built sand castles, we read books, we ate fish and chips and just all around relaxed for the whole afternoon/evening. We ended up heading home around 8pm. Needless to say we all slept very well.
